A peaceful world will be the result of a world of peaceful people. We cannot have peace in our world unless each of us takes steps to become peaceful. Starting within ourselves, each of us can choose peace. Then, moving outward in expanding circles of compassion, we choose peace with others we know, then others we don’t know, until our compassion encircles the Earth. As each of us takes this journey, our world becomes more peaceful.

"One day we must come to see that peace is not merely a distant goal we seek, but that it is a means by which we arrive at that goal. We must pursue peaceful ends through peaceful means.”
— Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"If we ourselves remain angry and then sing world peace, it has little meaning. First, our individual self must learn peace. This we can practice. Then we can teach the rest of the world.”
